Take the Maryland Broadband Speed Test

From Governor O'Malley's April Newsletter:
Help make Maryland one of the best-connected states in the nation by taking the Maryland Broadband Speed Test!

For Businesses
Whether your business is large, small, urban, or rural, you can benefit from broadband!
Access to the Internet via high speed, or broadband, connectivity is essential to economic development, especially in rural areas. Yet broadband service is not available in every area of Maryland. The Maryland Broadband Mapping Initiative will help extend the benefits of broadband communication throughout the entire State.

Broadband is Good for Business
Broadband is a proven means for increasing sales and profit, and achieving growth. In today's environment, more than ever, it is an essential component of a company's ability to compete. Broadband opens the door to a wealth of tools businesses can use to streamline workflows, remotely leverage Information Technology resources (such as cloud computing), and take advantage of emerging social media marketing technologies. Broadband access can also reduce overhead costs through telecommuting, Web and video conferencing, and by extending the recruiting range for highly skilled personnel.
Broadband is especially important for small, rural, and home-based businesses, because it helps level the competitive playing field. Broadband promotes innovation, enables operational streamlining, allows flexibility within the supply chain, and greatly expands the customer base for small businesses.

How can the Maryland Broadband Map help your business?
The Maryland Broadband Map maps will provide access to detailed information on broadband availability in the State. The Broadband Mapping Initiative will also help give Federal, State, and local officials better data for policy decisions that affect the small business community.

If you already have broadband, you can test your speed!
We've provided a simple, fast speed test that measures your current upload and download speeds, verifies the location of broadband availability, and helps us ensure the accuracy of the Maryland Broadband Map.
