Hagerstown Community College is the fastest-growing community college in Maryland with nearly 13,000 credit and non-credit students enrolled. HCC offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs for university transfer or for career preparation, including continuing education and adult basic education. Programs include the following:
In addition to offering continuing education courses, Hagerstown Community College includes a Job Training Institute (JTI) and Career Center. Several training programs, including computers & technology, medical, and business, are available to students. Career services such as employer connections, job search assistance, and interview preparedness are an asset in training the local workforce.
HCC’s business incubator, the Technical Innovation Center, is the largest, most comprehensive technology-based business incubator in Western Maryland. It provides space and other services and amenities to entrepreneurs, start-ups, and existing companies. Their facilities consist of office space, open manufacturing space, conference rooms, and 4,000 square feet of biotech research labs. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is also located at Hagerstown Community College, providing counseling and training opportunities to existing and aspiring entrepreneurs.
The University System of Maryland at Hagerstown, located in the heart of downtown, offers more than 30 graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs, including Business, Education, Engineering, Nursing, and Social Work. The 77,000-square-foot facility encompasses over two dozen classrooms, six computer labs, and three nursing labs. Programs are available through Frostburg State University, University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland University College, Towson University and Salisbury University.
Kaplan College, formerly Hagerstown Business College, offers career-focused certificate and degree programs, including business, legal studies, technology and graphic design. All degree programs include internships with local businesses. Kaplan College prepares students for challenging careers in the world of business. Quality education and hands-on training programs ease the transition from the classroom to the workforce. Kaplan College can also assist with workforce development needs, as skills training, certificate programs, and CEU courses are offered.
